[this is the part where Alejandro gets to hide behind The "Well, I'm a Male Who Obviously Missed the Subtler Intentions Here..." Defense XD]

To put it as mildly as possible, I was always dead neutral about Shimako until the 4th installment of the third season. The "cowardly tactics" from the purple team was a nice twist on her sometimes Sue-ish outboard qualities. Then she's humbled again by the arrival of her priest dad... XD;

...and then one more instance, more seriously, in the Sistine Chapel. The whole closet-Buddhist attending Catholic school who's able to find unspeakable beauty in the depiction of Christ's glory had a nice contrast to it. Then an actual Catholic like Yoshino chimed in, and you get a wonderful triad of reactions. XD

I just point to how, under the surface, the serious, moody Sei turned out to be much more childish than the jocular one. (again, contrasts! \o/)

(Yep, it feel that way.)
