Well ...

For the record, having been on the New Jersey Turnpike, I didn't get mad at Gov. Jon Corzine (or his driver or whatever) for speeding because I know on the Turnpike that's NORMAL.

But to answer the question, I know people have affairs or even just temptations for a variety of reasons. It's true, I'm not privy to the Edwards' homelife or anything like that. Maybe I was a little foolish for being surprised because it seemed like they had a strong marriage from the outside ... but yeah, I don't actually know these people.

Also, I recognize that if he does continue to have a future in politics (he hasn't been a senator for about three years now), this doesn't have any affect on his policies/plans. It's certainly not as bad as ... well, putting your unqualified lover on the state payroll (like Gov. McGreevey) or putting your mistress in a New York apartment on city tax dollars (like Mayor Guiliani).

But, I don't think I'm out of bounds by saying it SOUNDS like he did a really crummy thing. I mean, I've said in the past that celebrities have done crummy things before. Doesn't affect their art, and they're only human, but it leaves a bad taste in your mouth.
