I agree with your overall point that people aren't giving their all in characterizing women. But... considering slash is already defined as intentional deviation from canon, it's basically inviting its writers to try and get away with whatever they want. To say they MUST abide by solid logic while writing in a genre of deviation feels like it's asking for too much (remember, this includes the people who see two physically attractive male characters arguing in a shounen/action series for more than 5 seconds and assume IT MUST BE TRUE LOVE).

Just so we aren't working entirely on assumptions, let's not forget that gay males are also slash fans. :Þ (and I read slash, as written by my friends.. XD)
