So I bought some RAM from Circuit City yesterday. I've owned my compy for SIX YEARS and I've never tried installing anything new on it (although I did to my family computer). I got all ready to take off the cover with a screwdriver when I saw no screws keeping the cover on.

"Curious ..." I thought. Then I kept looking around and investigating. I found a sort of a spring mechanism on both the top and the bottom of the computer. I pushed them at the same time and viola! Computer opened like a book.

SHEESH! If I knew it was that easy, I would have just started opening my computer for fun.

Anyway, after lightly dusting off the two pounds of bunnies with a piece of tissue, (Why do I live so far away from a place where I could just run out and get canned air?) and fiddling around I installed the new 512 MB of RAM. Good-bye horrible start-up times, yay! I can use the proper RiffTrax player, yay! I can play PsychoNau ... oh, wait, video card isn't l33t enough. Woe.

I'm wondering if I want to get a new video card and go for the Franken-computer route. I'm really not ready to buy a new computer yet. (Fuck "ending is better than mending." Mending can be tons of fun.) Hmm ... I'll give myself a month to make this huge decision. If I want to play video games I can always crack open the Grand Theft Auto: Vice City I managed to get for free and the Katamari Damacy and Tomb Raider: Legend I got for budget price. Or I could download a Yahtzee Croshaw game. Or I could scrounge up my old American McGee's Alice that I never finished. The possibilities are endless!

[livejournal.com profile] imayb1 asked:

1. What are your major life-goals for the next year or two?

In the most general sense, my major life-goals are to sort of set out the path for the rest of my life this year. Or maybe the next ten years. I'd like to start writing more personal things. I'd also like to be exercising and going to the doctor and doing all the things I'm SUPPOSED to be doing and neglected this year. Kind of simple and vague, but they're what I need right now.

Oh, and I want to finish reading the Jewish Bible by the end of 2009, with all of the Prophets being read this year.

2. If you could get all people to understand ONE thing-- one statement or concept-- what would it be?

This is probably where I should say something like "Peace is good" but I fear that would have a large butterfly effect. So I'll settle for "Minority activism does not mean hatred of the majority." I think that's pretty simple.

3. Would you like to become famous? If so, for what?

Yeah, I kind of would. But author-famous, not actor-famous. I'd like to get fanmail but still be able to go shopping relatively unnoticed. I still have the "critically-acclaimed author" dream.

4. If you could list one book as mandatory reading for all high school graduates, which would you choose?

My future book aimed at getting teenagers to read books! Seriously, I've actually written the introduction to this. Hey, we're talking fantasy, right?

Less big-headed answer ... hmmm ... I'm going to go with Public Opinion by Walter Lippmann. I think it would give our media-saturated society a bit of a reality check and help the new generations. Plus, I had trouble understanding it when I read it as an undergrad, so maybe a teacher can help them out. :-)

5. If you could trade lives (Freaky Friday style) with a superhero (or supervillian), would you? If so, who would you choose?

Freaky Friday means just for a day, right? She's not my favorite, but I got to go with Wonder Woman. I think after you're Wonder Woman for a day, you can get the confidence to do anything. Plus, then I'd be able to fly!
