I've always seen Coach Z as being a white guy from Chicago who's trying to look "street", and not Black, per se. That's definately a Chicago-an accent he's got.
There was also the Aardvark character from the Ant & The Aardvark cartoons. When the Aardvark starts using Yiddish phrases, which he does, then there's somethin' going on. He was voiced by John Byner but it was Byner doing his Jackie Mason.
