Like dipshits don't try to constantly carry-on luggage already. Please, give them another incentive to produce flight delays.

Sucks about the employees, too. Getting rid of the gas-guzzling vehicles is probably a good thing, though.

I tend to fly Southwest anyway, though ... they're OK.

NPR interviewed some folks who said they were "tired of being nickle-and-dimed to death". Of course, if airlines raised ticket prices in a forthright manner, there would still be hell to pay. Even with the nickle-dime fees, they're losing $ because of the huge increase in fuel prices. What can they do? There just isn't any way to keep everyone happy over this.

IMO, most people should learn to pack more efficiently anyway. The only time I've taken a suitcase on an airplane was for a two-week stay in Ireland when I planned to bring back larg-ish souvenirs (wooden sculptures, wool sweaters, Conamarra marble, and Waterford crystal). Normally, one carry on bag is plenty.
