Halfway-through review of the Midori Da -- Ahem, "Me and My Fucking Cow of a Sister"

- Aw, hell. There's more Rin in this manga, but there's never enough. COME STAY FOR LONGER, RIN!

(Actually, I think I liked seeing her in the anime a little more, because she had more room to fight and scream and stuff but I STILL LOVE YOU, RIN!)

- Good God, this is the most fetishistic non-hentai manga I've ever read (and yeah, I include the girls from Battle Royale all going crazy and walking around naked ... it still didn't get this weird). Beside the my-masturbation-hand-is-an-actual-girl aspect, now we've got the doll-lovers, a girl in love with the girl on the guy's hand, gangs tying up a twink (sometimes with no clothes!), an all-girl gang dressing up said twink in girl's clothes ...

Considering Kazurou Inoue's second manga was about a guy who is obsessed with a girl having "the perfect parts," I really do wonder about what sort of issues he's working through ...

- That being said, I wish Kota's crush on Seiji and his semi-denial over it had made it to the anime. "I love you, Seiji! Seiji ... er, I mean Midori! MIDORI!" Normally you would say "OT3!" but unfortunately it would probably just be awkward and weird and uncomfortable to watch on all sides.

- Why did Disgusting Otaku Toad Creature get to be in the anime but Mao the Silent Kick-Ass Creepy Girl did not? By the way, Midori is officially only useful in inciting Mao's craziness.

- Maybe if I wear underwear with a big red dot, people will think I'm Japanese.

- I actually WANT to like Midori, given that she's so cute and stuff but ... ugh, her "I can't wait to settle down and become a satellite of Seiji!"/"If I'm not near him, I CAN'T BEAR TO LIVE!!" makes me ill.

- On the other hand, I feel like I should be angrier at Seiji for ignoring the girl who is throwing herself at him ... but I can't. Ugh. He reminds me of Ichigo from Bleach. He's funny. I can't do it. I AM JUST LIKE AYASE THAT WAY ONLY NOT REALLY BECAUSE AYASE IS KIND OF UNCOOL.

- Can someone please read Bechel's Law? Anyone? [sigh]

- I actually think Midori's and Ayase's relationships to their own sexualities are a bit healthier in the manga. In the anime, it seemed like this weird dichotomy where they'd throw themselves at Seiji and then kick his ass when he made any advance on them but OH MY GOD, I CANNOT PROTECT MYSELF FROM ACTUAL PERVERTS! This kind of made me sick. Here the, "I will do anything for love!!! ... except deal with your penis" strikes me more as teenagers wanting to be adults but not being ready yet.

- I still can't believe I'm reading this stuff.

I can't believe they couldn't find ANYONE from DC, but yeah, the list is fairly accurate.

Although it pains me to say that, because I think the online Cracked! is full of smug nerds trying desperately to be cool. And I haven't quite forgiven them for naming Yaoi-Con the stupidest con ever.
