I really need to get on reading some more Charles Dickens. Like Bleak House.

(My favorite Scrooge is my fiance, because I'm lame. He played Scrooge for 4? 5? years at one of the bigger theatres in New Hampshire. He was awesome. After that I would have to say that I love Michael Caine because I love the Muppet Christmas Carol. :D)

ETA: And yes, please go see this movie and report back. I would love to hear your take on it. xD

Assuming every piece of info in a documentary is 100% accurate, do you believe documentaries can be used as opinion pieces?

(But to be fair, I like interpretative approaches to reality - that's why I'm an illustrator/designer. There's something refreshing about taking what's simply there and bringing out what you see in it. And, er, not a journalist? :,>)

Jean Luc is a very good Scrooge (although I don't think I saw ALL of the movie, I liked what I DID see). My book The Friendly Dickens has an interview with him when he did A Christmas Carol as a one-man show. He really understands the story on a deep level, I think.

My basic idea behind my opinion is political commentary is legitimate in the print/radio media, so there's no reason why it shouldn't be legitimate on film. Also that documentaries haven't had a sacrosanct "for facts only" rule since the beginning (check out the trivia section). But I'll get into this later if/when I write this review.

I feel really bad as a Dickens fan that I haven't seen his or George C. Scott's films. The Scrooges I've seen have been Alfred Finley (Scrooge!), Michael Caine (A Muppet Christmas Carol) and the Patrick Stewart version. Oh, and Scrooge McDuck. @_@
