Re: and,

PANDAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!

I have more to say about the subject of "Panda" in a future post.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaa

It never dawned on me to write a review for the series, but I will say one of the neater aspects of Season 3 is how it gets progressively more interesting with each installment [ever since I took screenwriting, I've become more mindful of deliberately sequential entertainment ...which is probably why I get writer's block with even greater frequency; original stories I mean, not reviews ...maybe XD]

Season 4 starts really soon based on what I can glean from gokigenyou.com :U

Re: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaa

PANDA!!!

Yuumi and Sachiko's love rings through cheap costume fibres, tis true!

Also, I kinda get a kick out of Kanako, this big, tall girl, falling all over herself for Yuumi. It's a neat reversal of roles that one sees, where usually it's the bigger person being all protective of the smaller person.

And I'm quite enjoying season 4. One of the aspects of this series is how conflict between the characters is handled, mainly with a great deal less melodrama.

Plus, Yuumi is using Nanoha's Power of Friendship(tm) to totally win Yuuko over.

Haha, that's probably why Kanako works for me too. As my friend [livejournal.com profile] noirrac put it: "it's the stalker who can't hide herself very well..." XD;

Maybe I don't mind Teh Melodrama so long as it's repudiated (e.g. 2nd Year Sei < 3rd Year Sei)...?

From: [identity profile] quietprofanity.livejournal.com

Hee-hee. Kanako is ... interesting. I'm interested in this Kanako vs. Toukou stuff.

I don't know if this has to do with what you're talking about or not, but my favorite 2nd vs. 3rd year Sei contrast is the scene right after Shimako becomes her petite souer and they're running and Shimako is like, "I will not let go of this hand." I just ... wow. I love that so much.

(Third season Sei I always feel is like the special guest of fanservice. It's like the the producers are sending out a subliminal message going, "Hey, kids! It's Sei! Applause here!")

[this is the part where Alejandro gets to hide behind The "Well, I'm a Male Who Obviously Missed the Subtler Intentions Here..." Defense XD]

To put it as mildly as possible, I was always dead neutral about Shimako until the 4th installment of the third season. The "cowardly tactics" from the purple team was a nice twist on her sometimes Sue-ish outboard qualities. Then she's humbled again by the arrival of her priest dad... XD;

...and then one more instance, more seriously, in the Sistine Chapel. The whole closet-Buddhist attending Catholic school who's able to find unspeakable beauty in the depiction of Christ's glory had a nice contrast to it. Then an actual Catholic like Yoshino chimed in, and you get a wonderful triad of reactions. XD

I just point to how, under the surface, the serious, moody Sei turned out to be much more childish than the jocular one. (again, contrasts! \o/)

(Yep, it feel that way.)

YOU COLD, UNFEELING BASTARD! THIS IS JUST LIKE IN THE SISTINE CHAPEL AND YOU'RE CALLING JESUS FAT! [sob sob sob]

... That was one of my favorite scenes, too. Thinking about how religious people act, though, it makes a lot of sense. New converts always have the sense of awe and wonder OMG THIS IS SO SERIOUS about their religion. Lifers are comfortable making sex jokes about the prophets. (As a lifer who re-discovered her religion in her adolescence, I kind of feel both of those sentiments at different times.)

I liked the scenes of Noriko and Shimako just hanging out as soeurs in the third season. They didn't do much, but I liked kind of trying to get a hint of what that relationship will become. ([livejournal.com profile] temperance_doll also asked me to be her beta reader for a Shimako fanfic that dealt with her feelings for Noriko AND Rosa Canina, though, so I've thought about them semi-deeply in the past already.)

I agree.

Re: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaa

Kanako is protecting Yumi from the big, scary men like her brother IN HER OWN WAY, yo.

... Um, who is Nanoha? I have trouble following the ancillary characters' names sometimes.

From: [identity profile] 47nite.livejournal.com

Big scary men like Alice-kun. XD;

Er, I believe [livejournal.com profile] big_wired is referring to this (another of those series that's ~so~ popular I almost end up learning all about just from peering through multiple personal accounts/archives and not having watched a single episode) ^^;;

From: [identity profile] big-wired.livejournal.com

Yeah, Magical Lyrical Girl Nanoha. She basically defeats her rival, Fate, by befriending her, since she's so gosh darned cute and persistent.

Yumi is doing the same thing to Yuuko.

So soon... SOON! Yuko shall fight Kanako for Yumi's love!

From: [identity profile] 47nite.livejournal.com

I notice you keep bringing up this Yuko. And not Touko ...you might be revealing a biiit more than some of us are ready for (as some of us haven't started d/l the new season yet)... XD;;;

THAT WAS WHY I WAS GOING CRAZY!

And do NOT go to Wikipedia. There is a HUGE spoiler there. I'm pissed I know it.
