I finished re-reading Sabriel ... that book was a lot better when I was 13. How did I not notice all of the characters had the emotional depth of styrofoam blocks? [sigh] I must have really been starved for fantasy heroines at that age. I mean, it sucks. Every other element is there ... pretty good plot, good worldbuilding, awesome powers, a degree of chemistry between the leads ... and no characterization. [sigh]

I'm not sure if I want to read the next two, now. They're YA novels, so they're quick reads, but ... sheesh.
