I'm sorry - I guess I still haven't gotten over the Elliot Spitzer hysteria. At first, it does sound like it's a crummy thing to do, but apparently Elizabeth Edwards knew about it. Maybe they have an open marriage? Maybe the kid really isn't his? Maybe the woman in question wanted a child really badly and Edwards discussed it with his wife beforehand and she was OK with it? Anyway, the media being all over it is not going to make things any easier for Elizabeth Edwards.

I ... don't think I get an open marriage vibe from this, unless they have some sort of understanding relating to her cancer, but I guess we won't really know until/if Elizabeth Edwards makes a statement.

I'm thinking he's telling the truth about the kid by this point, though, given that another guy came forward to say he's the father. I'm not really sure what a formal fall guy would do for him now.

Anyway, the media being all over it is not going to make things any easier for Elizabeth Edwards.

True, this is the first day, though. I'm thinking with the conventions coming up at the end of this month (and him not actively holding office) this won't drag on HUGELY long.
