I'm reminded of the General Grievous fangirling when Star Wars Episode III came out. (Grievous = some visible rotting flesh) :>

Rabid fangirling seems to follow any character du jour who simply exudes a little more confidence than the flock- regardless of looks, I've noticed. :\ (or it's just the bandwagon effect in its purest form)

Eh, I think you overstate "confidence." Fangirling I think is more of a personal preference.
