You know, I really should stop requesting mass market paperbacks and then act all surprised when they come to me looking like crap I don't even like TOUCHING, much less reading.
I'm careful about condition notes and it sucks when other people aren't as attentive. I really hate ex-library books that aren't marked as such. The book is either coated in plastic or sticky tape and goo-- or both and often comes with nasty fingerprints on pages, food stuck in the binding... ICK. ICK. ICK.
FOOD? Ew! I like to read when I eat, but that's just pig-like.
But I really do wonder if people who trade mass market just have a different standard for a "fair" book. A lifetime of looking through multi-cracked spine, yelleowed romance novels for something fun at the Used Bookstore at home may have given me unfair prejudice, though.
