so is it worth it to read these? or is it really breathy purple softcore porn like the anne rice stuff? i see people holding a book with hands holding an apple on the cover which i think is from the series.
I actually haven't read them (I'm sort of just enjoying the explosion/backlash/WTF reactions of people). From everything I've heard, though, 1.) they're not really worth it unless you have a sense of humor/hidden love for ooey-gooey romance and 2.) they are "breathy" and "purple" but NOT softcore porn. It's more like, "I want you ... but I CAN'T OR I WILL EAT YOU!" for pages and pages. The main couple only has sex in the fourth book, and then they're fade-to-black. But she WILL go on for pages about the half-vampire baby breaking Bella's ribs as she kicks her and possibly breaking her spine and Edward has to tear the amniotic sac with his teeth and ... yeah. I think the author's definition of obscenity is a little whack.
