So, while ironing my clothes I put on the Fantastic Four commentary track, which I have never listened to, and I came across an extremely pleasant surprise. Jessica Alba, whatever her faults as an actress (I liked her pretty well, but I know others disagree) actually LIKES playing Susan Storm. There was none of the, "Oh, isn't it nice to be THE girl in an action movie? Boys like action movies. I like getting money from boys who like to look at my boobs in the action movies!" comments that I see from some actresses who do the superhero movies. [cough]KirstenDunst[couth] She was actually making comments about where she wanted to see her character go in the next movie, talked about how she liked how Susan had the bloody nose in the final fight because it humanized her, talked about what scenes she thought were cool and how much fun she had watching them and ... well, actually complained about some of the more ridiculous cheesecake. ("Why is Ben's fiancee walking out in the middle of New York in the evening in a SLIP?") Also fun was when she happily claimed that Susan Storm was the most powerful.

Overall, I got the feeling like she was into it and thinking about it ... and I appreciate that. It's nice to see a lady in the industry of making girls like me happy being happy herself. I mean, I want to hold the supernova in my fantastic force field of ferocity (Okay, I'll stop). I'd like if the actress on the screen wants to do it as much as I do.

So ... to Miss Alba: Thanks for caring. It has not gone unnoticed.

Interesting. I loved Jessica Alba as "Max" in Dark Angel, but in interviews, I always thought she came across like a complete ditz. I thought it was weird because the characters she plays are smart and I wondered if the scripts were responsible, or if she was just bad interview material? It's good to know she cares about her character and pays attention to things.

Well, she doesn't sound like someone you could discuss Russian literature with, but she knew more than Ioan Gruffudd did about the franchise. And ... well, when it comes to the movie that's really all I care about, y'know?

Hah! I was kind of blown away by that, too. If anything, she made Michael Chiklis?sp? and the guy who played Reed a lot of fun to listen to as they were audibly squirming. Her complaints about the infamous bridge scene - classic!

I liked how she pointed out when she was wearing heels for any stunts, too. I doubt many guys noticed that (I can't say I did), but it made me kinda respect her even running from crowds a bit more.

Hee-hee. Yeah, the squirm factor was also fun. Same with the bridge and the heels.

I liked Michael Chiklis in the commentary. He reminds me of the middle age guy who works in my office. Very chatty and clever.
